Foodsling
2020The Foodsling is a purposeful solution designed to aid in the transportation of spillable foods, catering to the needs of individuals across the board. However, it was meticulously crafted with a particular focus on enhancing the lives of those living with Parkinson's disease.
Given the challenges posed by weakened musculoskeletal systems, individuals with Parkinson's often encounter difficulties with mobility and require assistance even for seemingly simple tasks, such as carrying food bowls. The Foodsling addresses this need by offering a lightweight and compact design, tailored for individual use. This thoughtful approach ensures maximum ease and convenience for the user, empowering them to navigate daily life with greater independence.
Through it’s adjustable diameter, the Foodsling offers versatility in accommodating a wide range of dish sizes. Furthermore, it can be conveniently carried with one hand, allowing the user to hold a walking aid or support in the other hand as needed.
Due to its simple design and low material requirements, the Foodsling surpasses existing, often bulky and heavy products. Additionally, it fits into any pocket and can be used on the go.
During the prototyping phase, extensive testing was conducted with individuals living with Parkinson's disease. While the design proved effective for most participants, it is important to acknowledge that the intensity and experience of the disease can vary from person to person. Therefore, it is crucial to recognize that the Foodsling is not a "one size fits all" solution in terms of individual needs, but rather a universal aid that can be used by many affected individuals in their daily lives, ensuring compatibility with various container sizes and shapes.
